The Environmental Protection Program of HIHD is a multi-faceted initiative aimed at promoting sustainable environmental practices, improving community engagement, and increasing climate resilience. Below are the key initiatives and their descriptions:

Key initiatives include:

  • Planting trees and restoring natural forests to sequester carbon dioxide, improve soil health, and enhance ecosystems. HIHD provides adaptable fruit trees for community members to plant in their croplands.
  • Training communities on smart climate agricultural practices, particularly agroforestry and sustainable land management techniques like soil and water conservation measures and household-level vermicomposting.
  • Promoting climate change adaptation awareness among smallholder farmers through village-level educational activities, peer learning, cultural activities such as drama and singing, visual media (short videos and documentaries), and workshops.
  • Promoting waste management by transforming non-acidic waste into productive vermicompost (organic fertilizer).
